Euro Update: Anky van Grunsven Claims 13th National Title

For the 13th time in her career did Anky van Grunsven claim the title of Dutch National Dressage Champion. At the 2007 Dutch Dressage Championships in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, Van Grunsven returned to the show ring aboard Salinero after a 10 week baby break. She immediately set the record straight in Dutch Dressage Land and showed everyone that there is no doubt about it: Anky van Grunsven is the number one and she showed that by winning the Championships with 15 percentage point advantage to the second placed rider Imke Schellekens-Bartels.

The scores at the Championships were floated beyond belief, but Van Grunsven did produce stellar rides. She scored 78.375% in the Grand Prix, 70.720 in the Special and 86.550 in the Kur to Music. Schellekens and Sunrise won silver, Alex van Silfhout and Nimbly won bronze. Edward Gal and Gribaldi finished last in the Grand Prix as the stallion refused to do any piaffe or decent passage. Gal did win the small tour championship aboard the delightful mare Sisther de Jeu (by Gribaldi). Gal announced that Gribaldi was overtrained following a strenuous winter show season in combination with a busy breeding season. The horse now gets an extended holiday to relax. (View Scores)

Isabell Werth and Satchmo Return at CDI Munich

After the 2006 World Equestrian Games, Isabell Werth was in the spotlight the entire winter with Warum Nicht. But, her gold medal winning horse Satchmo (by Sao Paulo), however, is back again and won the Grand Prix for Special at the CDI Munich. He scored 76.625% and later on won the Special with 76.840%. Twice the pair was followed in the ranking by the new combination Victoria Max Theurer on the phenomenally talented August der Starke (by Argentinus). (View Scores)

Ellen Schulten-Baumer Wins Hamburg Dressage Derby

Ellen Schulten-Baumer and her Oldenburg mare Gina Royal OLD (by Grosso Z) won won the 47th Hamburg Dressage Derby with horse change at the CDN Hambur in Germany. The 28-year old rider beat Heike Kemmer and Kristy Oatley-Nist with two outstanding rides on Gina Royal OLD and Florianus. Oatley did win the Grand Prix & Special win Don Bolero. (View Scores)

Don Rochelle, Price Highlight of 2007 NRW Summer Auction

The dark bay gelding Don Rochelle became the price highlight of the 2007 NRW Summer Auction "Handorf Extra" in Munster, Germany, on 20th May 2007. Fifty-two Westfalian branded sport horses were presented at auction and achieved an average price of 13,431 euro.

The price highlight was Don Rochelle, a 5-year old Dollmann x Pit I offspring. Bred by Antonius Schulze-Averdiek and presented by the British Gary Holloway, Don Rochelle sold for 77,000 euro. The second most expensive horse was Fascinato, a3-year old black stallion by Furst Heinrich x Funke. He sold for 50,000 euro. Designer, a chestnut gelding by D'Accord x Foxtrott sold for 42,000 euro. Feiner Henry, by Furst Piccolo x Pinocchio sold for the same amount. (Read More)
