The German dressage calender is currently heavily occupied by Bundeschampionate qualifiers all over Germany. The best young horses and ponies between the ages of 3 and 6 are participating in these selection trials to obtain an entry for the big Bundeschampionate Finals held in Warendorf, Germany, September 3-7, 2008.
A big Bundeschampionate qualifier took place last weekend in the Rhinelander town of Neuss-Grefrath. Femke and Pricolino won the blue ribbon and can confidently go to the Warendorf finals. In the 5-year old Dressage Horse class, four horses qualified for the finals. Heiner Schiergen rode the Farewell II mare Femke to victory. The Krefeld based professional dressage rider scored 8.1 and won the class. Bundeschampionate record title-holder Jana Freund placed second aboard Furst Fantasy, a Westfalian bred Furst Heinrich offspring. They received 8.0 from the panel of judges.

Five 6-year olds made the cut for the Bundeschampionate by scoring 7.8 or higher. Ramona Strucken put in the winning ride on the Trakehner Pricolino (by Schwandroneur). They scored 8.1 and topped the leader board. Jessica Süss and the Luttgen's Oldenburg mare Diamantenbörse (by Diamond Hit) ranked second on 8.0. Diamonit, Well Done and Furst Khevenhuller Win Haftenkamp BuCha Qualifier
Diamonit, Well Done and Furst Khevenhuller became the winners of the BuCha qualification classes at the Haftenkamp Horse Show, one of the biggest Bundeschampionate qualifiers of the year.
A huge entry field of five-year olds had to be split into two groups to accommodate the class for the show. In the 5-year old Dressage Horse Division Group 1, Paul Schockomohle's in-house rider Anja Engelbart topped the leaderboard with Tony Pidgley's Oldenburg licensed stallion Diamonit (by Diamond Hit x Santander). The elegant dark bay stallion scored a staggering 8.9 and ranked almost one full point ahead of second placed Jan Dirk Gießelmann with Flavio K on 8.0.
The Wallenhorst based Westendarp became the winner of the 5-year old Dressage Horse division group two. Riding the Oldenburg gelding Well Done (by Wolkentanz II x Lord Liberty G), Johannes scored a strong 8.2 mark. Hof Kasselmann's rider Insa Hansen placed second with King Size on 7.9, while Heinrike Sommer slotted in third on Rubinio B on 7.8.
The 6-year old Dressage Horse division was won by the 2007 5-year old Bundeschampionate champion Furst Khevenhuller. Helen Langehanenberg steered Sissy Max-Theurer's horse to an 8.6 total score. Andrea Müller-Kersten and Famaso (Furst Heinrich x Aletto) landed a second place with 8.00. Australian Maree Tomkinson and her gorgeous Diamond Hit mare Diamantina finished third with 7.90.
