Equine journalist Diana De Rosa has again won a first place in the Press Club of Long Island annual awards contest. It was a photo taken during the 2014 Alltech World Equestrian Games in her coverage for Horsesdaily.com, one of the top equine websites in the world. “I call it ‘Horses Whisperer’ because it was a single man (Lorenzo) guiding a dozen free roaming horses. It’s the most amazing horsemanship and surely caught my attention,” De Rosa remarked.
This was De Rosa’s fourth first place award in five years with one second place finish last year.“I was especially proud to win this year ahead of two Newsday photographer photos. As Long Island’s only daily newspaper, Newsday is not only well-respected but includes top quality, well-researched reporting and consistently high quality photos".
“This was my seventh World Equestrian Games,” De Rosa continued. “Next year I’ll be headed to my eighth Summer Olympic Games. I love being able to write the story and then bring it to life with my photos." "I especially like that when I look at those photos again, it brings me back to the exact moment when I took each photo. It allows me to relive all those great moments that have now become etched in the history books. And winning an award for that precious moment is the icing on the cake.”
De Rosa will be heading to the Pan American Games in Toronto in July. So, keep an eye out for more of my horsesdaily.com coverage this year and also next year at the Olympic Games.
