A popular judge and trainer, Cindy is also a successful competitor. Over the years she has trained eight horses from the beginning up to Intermediaire and three to Grand Prix.
At age 25 she first competed at the Grand Prix level on her Brazilian Thoroughbred gelding, Lover. In 1972, after four years spent in Brazil, Cindy moved home to the US, bringing the gelding with her.
In 1975-77 she competed for positions on the Pan-American and Olympic teams and was long-listed for the US Equestrian Team. This gave her the opportunity to train with Colonel Bengt Ljundquist, whom she credits as one of her most revered and influential trainers.
