Saugerties, NY - June 9, 2015 - After a successful two weeks at the Old Salem Spring Horse Shows, E2 Showjumpers traveled to Saugerties, New York to compete at HITS-On-The-Hudson for two more weeks. With Peter Lutz in the irons, Robin de Ponthual and Carneyhaugh Manx continued to take home top prizes for E2 Showjumping founders Katherine Gallagher and Michael Meller.
The 10-year-old Selle Francais gelding (Elf d'Or x IO de la Grange) Robin de Ponthual continued to step-up to the national grand prix level. He and Lutz kicked off the competition with a faultless effort in the $1,500 Level 7 UltrOz Jumpers for sixth place, and they then came back on Sunday to place second in the $75,000 Horseware Ireland Grand Prix with a double clear round. During the second week, they had the second fastest four-fault first round to place 11th in the $100,000 Horseware Ireland Grand Prix.
"Robin de Ponthual really rose to the occasion these last two weeks," noted Meller. "He and Peter are developing a really good partnership. I have always believed Robin is a really special horse, and now he is starting to prove it to us."
Not to be outdone by his stable mate, Carneyhaugh Manx, a 9-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (VDL Douglas x Carneyhaugh Surprise) had his own success in the ring. During the first week, the pair took home fourth place in the $5,000 Open Jumper Speed with a clear round. On Saturday May 30, Lutz and Carneyhaugh Manx led the victory gallop after winning the $15,000 Open Jumper Prix. Their clear jump-off topped the leader board by almost two seconds for the blue ribbon. Click here to watch the video.
"Carneyhaugh Manx is a great horse and a great competitor," said Meller. "After two great weeks at Old Salem, he showed it to us again at HITS. He had a very consistent summer season in 2014, and we hope to continue with the success he has already had in 2015."
Meller concluded, "A special thanks to the Gallaghers for their continued support. It's very exciting to see both of these horses doing so well, and they deserve to have these special horses. I am very proud to be partnered with the Gallaghers and E2 Showjumpers."
