The 2013 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions presented by the Dutta Corp came to a close this past weekend with National titles being crowned in everything from Ponies to Grand Prix and lots of other FEI action in between - check out the results and coverage! The Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Western European League kicks off this weekend in Denmark with indoor action that will conclude next April in Lyon, France. American Lisa Wilcox is back on German soil showing with American bred Pikko del Cerro HU - see how they did in the CDN Ankum. Hearing your promising young horse has been diagnosed with osteochondrondal lesions (OCD) has stuck horror in many a horse owner's heart but fear not - it seems that surgery is not always the answer. It looks like Virginia and Texas are the epi-centers of the weekend with both cities hosting Regional Championships. The Region 1/VADA Fall Competition and Regional Championships will take place in Lexington, KY and the Region 9, Southwest Dressage Championships and HDS Autumn Classic will take place in Bryan, TX. The rest of the action this week will take place out west with the Harvest Fling in Albuquerque, NM, the Dressage at Spirit Equestrian in Somis, CA and the Foothills Fall Classic  in Wilton, CA. The northeast will have the lone competition outside the west with the Dressage at the Bucks County Horse Park V in Revere, PA.

The 2013 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions presented by the Dutta Corp concluded over the weekend and it was a great week of top competition! Steffen Peters earned an unprecendented 7th National Title riding Four Wind's Farm Legolas 92. With the level of competition seen at this year's Festival, from the Pony division to Grand Prix, the U.S. riders are showing that there is great promise to come for the future of American dressage! The Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Western European League presented by ECCO kicks off this weekend in Odense, Denmark. The final will take place in Lyon, France next April so much scrambling for position will take place in between to ensure a spot in the final. In addition to the Western League, qualified riders from the Central, North American and Asia Pacific Leagues will be eligible to compete for a shot to take the title from current World Cup Champion Helen Langehanenberg! American Lisa Wilcox is back on European turf with Anne Spark's U.S. bred Pikko del Cerro HU (Pik L x Rhodiamant). The pair made their competition debut at the 2013 CDN Ankum against a small field of international rider and won all the big tour classes in style! Lisa is in Germany with Pikko del Cerro HU and the Canadian owned Denzello (DeNiro x Rhodiamant) once again coached by Ernst Hoyos where she hopes to compete in three CDI's before returning home in Decemeber. A common problem in young horses is when osteochondrondal lesions appear on x-ray. While surgery is often the answer, researchers have found that this may no longer be the case. C. Wayne McIlwraith, BVSc, PhD, DSc, FRCVS, Dipl. ACVS, Dipl. ACVSMR, director of the Orthopaedic Research Center at Colorado State University states - in most instances where radiographic lesions are seen on survey radiographs (without clinical signs and if no sale is planned), conservative management is recommended,”.
