While the 2011 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions has come to a close there is still plenty of high profile competition ahead with the 2011 British Dressage National Championships and the NEDA CDI-W Saugerties taking place thie week with completion of both on September 18th. Looking further ahead to October, the 2011 Pan American Dressage Team has been choosen and we look to be fielding a very strong team to go for the Gold in Guadalajara, Mexico. British Dressage Star Charlotte Dujardin has sold her own Grand Prix horse to Denmark and another Brit has gotten into hot water with his comments on Paralympians, no it is not an equestrian, it is comedian Russell Brand! 

backontrackbanner Lots of action going down this weekend and the NEDA Fall Dressage Festival: Region 8 Dressage Championships Recognized By USEF; CDI Saugerties; USDF Breeders Championships in Saugerties, NY is already underway. Also in the region, we have the Potomac Valley Dressage At Oak Ridge Park in Hughesville, MD, the PVDA At Loch Moy Farm in Adamstown, MD and the NWPAHA Summer Classic Open Dressage Show in New Castle, PA. The south has The Good Horseman/Massey Ferguson Fall Dressage Show in Conyers, GA, Wellington Classic Fall Challenge I and II in West Palm Beach, FL, Sunshine Classic I and II in Newberry, FL, the The Last Dance in Folsom, LA and the Cool Down Dressage in Raeford, NC. The mid west has the Al Khamsa Fall Dressage in Dawson, IL, the Silverwood Dressage September in Camp Lake, WI and the CSDEA Dressage Festival & Championship in Lake Elmo, MN. Texas will host the Yellow Rose Festival I and II in Irving and the WKF Fall Dressage I and II in Magnolia. Arizona has the Coconino Dressage Show in Flagstaff, AZ and California rounds things out with the Del Mar International Dressage in Del Mar, the Woodside Autumn Dressage in Woodside and the Dressage at CEC in Moorpark.

The 2011 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions has come to a close and there was plenty of action across the board. Steffen Peters came from California with Ravel and small tour horse Weltino's Majic and swept the competition winning both the Grand Prix National Championship and earning a coveted spot on the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Speaking of the Pan Am Games, USEF has announced the team to represent the U.S. in dressage. It seems that we will be fielding an outstanding team. The equestrain portion of the Pan Am Games will be October 16-29 with 130 athletes competing. USEF Netwrok will be covering the event with video coverage! Check out who made the team!

Eurodessage.com will be covering the 2011 British Dressage Championships that run from September 15-18 held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. The competition will include the "who's who" of British Dressage including the European Championship team of Carl Hester, Laura Bechtolsheimer and Charlotte Dujardin. 22 National titles are up for grabs and the overall British National Champion Title being awarded on Sunday! Another big show going on this week (and currently underway) is the 2011 NEDA Fall Festival which plays host to the Region 8 USDF Championships, CDI-W Saugerties, CPEDI*** Saugerties and the UESF Para Equestrian Dressage National Championships. In addition there is an Open competition and Breed show. Total prize money for the Festival is $48,000! The event will run through September 18th. Check it out!

Horse & Hound reports the sale of British Dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin's Grand Prix mount Fernandez to Denamrk. Fernandez came onto the Grand Prix scene when Carl Hester showed him at the CDI Zwolle and CDI Vidauban. Charlotte made her GP debut on him in April scoring over 70%. With mulitple offers coming in Charlotte made the difficult decision to sell. Read her comments here!

In celebrity news, comedian Russell Brand got himself in trouble with a comment made during a stand up gig. Brand stated his dislike of the Olympic Games and then went on to state 'At least the Paralympics have some kind of novelty value or something'.
