Dr. Volker Moritz - A Profile

The 2004 North American Dressage Trainer's Symposium Clinicians

After riding for 45 years, Dr. Moritz continues to ride and train dressage horses to the Grand Prix level. His most successful horse is Ideaal, later ridden by Jo Hinnemann, in the 1986 World Championships, European Championships and World Cup Finals. Dr. Moritz has won many top class dressage tests, including the Grand Prix, and has been awarded the Golden Riders’ Badge of the German Federation.

Dr. Moritz’s judging career has spanned 37 years, the past 20 years as an FEI “O” judge. He has judged many national and continental championships for Seniors and Young Riders in Europe and North America. Some distinguished events he has judged are the Volvo World Cup Finals in Gothenburg (1992), Los Angeles (1995) and Hertogenbosh (1997).

At the World Equestrian Games in Rome (1998) and the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000), he was an acting member of the ground jury. From 1972 to the present, Dr. Moritz has been on the ground jury of the Most important CDIO - Event in Aachen.

Most recently, Dr. Moritz was President of the ground jury at the 2002 World Equestrian Games held in Jerez, Spain.
