Dr. Joan Norton to Discuss West Nile Virus on Sound Medicine on National Public Radio


 

Wellington, FL- September 14, 2012−Joan Norton VMD, DACVIM of Veterinary Consulting and Education Resources will discuss West Nile Virus on Sound Medicine, a National Public Radio Program, to begin airing this weekend around the country. This year may bring the most cases of West Nile Virus infections in people. As of Sept. 4, there have been 1,993 reported cases of the virus in humans nationally, including 87 deaths reported in 48 states around the country. Horses and humans are most at risk to be affected by the virus.What can you do to protect your horse? Listen in to the program to find out what you need to know about the disease− the symptoms, the treatment and the steps you can take to prevent your horse from being infected.

Sound Medicine is produced by the Indiana University School of Medicine and WFYI Public Radio. Host Barbara Lewis interviews medical experts on a wide range of current issues in medicine. The program educates and encourages listeners to make sound health decisions. It's also a forum for health issues affecting local communities.
