As a Board Certified Obstetrician/ Gynecologist practicing in a 4-person practice in West Palm Beach Florida, delivering over 40 babies a month, Dr. Andrea Bayer has a busy and rewarding career. She also has a busy and rewarding "career" as a successful Amateur-Owner dressage rider. She began riding when she was finishing her residency in Atlanta 6 years ago.
Recently at the Arabian Regionals, in Perry Georgia with her seven-year-old Arabian/Hanoverian, DW Double O Seven ("Bond"), Bayer won both First Level Open and Amateur Championships. They received their first "10" from the presiding judge, Tom Poulin, in a 78% ride, who wrote on their test that this was the first 10 he had ever given in his career.
Bayer purchased "Bond" as a three-year-old. Bred by Sherry Smith of Dogwood Farms in Jacksonville, Florida with imported semen from Donnerschlag, a stallion by Donnerhall, to Smith's pure polish Arabian mare Wuarantee, a premium Oldenburg mare approved by the ISR Verband. DW Double O Seven is branded Oldenburg and also shown as a half Arabian and American Warmblood.
Although at the time she purchased "Bond", Bayer was a novice herself, the pair progressed together with a lot of hard work and the help of the trainers she has worked with, John Zopatti, Greta Wrigley and Lisa Payne. " Now, I ride in the early mornings or late at night, with or without sleep, rain or shine under the careful eye of John Zopatti." Bayer said. "To actually own a horse has been my life long dream. To dance with one as awesome as Bond blows my mind every time I think about it. I am so lucky to have this opportunity!"
