Dell Hendricks moves training operation to Pilot Point, Texas

Dell Hendricks, the 1999 NRHA Open Futurity Champion, announced the move of his training and breeding program to Pilot Point, Texas. Dell's rapid rise to the top ranks of the reining horse industry is unmatched to date. Hendricks has continued to win consistently and remains at the top level of the sport. In addition to his NRHA Futurity Championship, Hendricks was the leading NRHA Money earner in 1998 and 1999 and has NRHA earnings approaching $500,000.00. Other notable accomplishments for Hendricks include NRHA Reserve Open Champion, two-time NRHA Reserve Derby Open Champion, NRBC Open Champion, AQHA World Championship, three-time ARHC Derby Champion, two-time USET Qualifying Class Champion, USET Semi-Finals Champion, USET Nation's Cup Gold Medal Team Championship, USET Athlete of the Month and more.

"I have valued my eight year relationship as head trainer for Rancho Oso Rio. I feel fortunate to have ridden and trained some truly great horses during that time. There is a special place in my heart for many of the horses owned by Jim and Pat Warren," Hendricks said. Among the notable horses is Mr Boomerjac, the crowd pleasing stallion sired by Boomernic. The palomino has won more than $100,000 under Hendricks guidance. Hendricks continued, "I would like to thank Jim and Pat for all of the outstanding opportunities I have had during my time with Rancho Oso Rio. Along with my wife, Terri, we are now pursuing the dream of owning our own training and breeding operation -- Hendricks Reining Horses." Hendricks will continue to ride Lena Dun It, a three-year-old futurity mare and Mr Boomerjac in the 2002 USET events. Both horses are owned by Jim and Pat Warren.

The future looks bright for Hendricks Reining Horses. "Although I have a nice selection of top reining prospects, we will begin taking outside horses," Hendricks said. Hendricks Reining Horses will stand Starlights Wrangler by Grays Starlight, an NRHA Futurity Finalist owned by Sally Broten. The stallion will also be campaigned by Hendricks in major NRHA events. In addition, Hendricks Reining Horses will stand Lethal Lena by Smart Little Lena. Owned by Pam Drew, Lethal Lena was Australia's all time leading cutting horse earner in 1992 as well as the 2nd leading sire of cutting horses in 2000 with only his first foal crop. Hendricks will campaign Lethal Lena in 2002 USET events.

Along with his training and breeding operation, Hendricks will participate in the 2nd Original Gold Reining Horse Clinic with Craig Johnson, Bill Horn and Scott McCutcheon. The next clinic is scheduled for March 22-24, 2002 at City of Industry, California.
