David O'Connor, USET Athlete of the Month

Eventing star David O'Connor signs autographs at The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Bayer, after his stellar dressage ride on Friday April 28, positioning him to win The USET/CCI**** Championship as the highest placed American rider, finishing second to New Zealand's Blyth Tait. This win was the deciding factor for being named the 2000 USET Athlete of the Month for April. Exactly one year ago his wife Karen (Lende) O'Connor received the same recognition for winning the same event in 1999. She was right beside him this year as well, in the victory lane, placing third.

The dynamic "Team O'Connor" has been the sport's reigning super stars in America and have done much for the equestrian sports in general. They are easily accessible, spending much time during their busy days competing to sign autographs, and to be photographed with their fans. In a press conference, they are a reporter's dream, covering all the bases, and giving thoughtful informative answers to the questions put before them.

The O'Connors are headed for Dallas where they will share a panel with other top Olympic athletes, on how to handle press conferences, interviews, and the public relations.
