The Countdown Is On To The Camden Spring Fling Debut

Harrodsburg, KY - As time ticks away towards the debut of the Camden Spring Fling show, April 7-11, new sponsors and additions to the grounds continue to mount. Chairman Robert Hunt announced the newest sponsorship of the event comes from Roger & Thomas Ltd.

Roger & Thomas ltd, whose home base is in Camden, have been a major force in the sporting antique world for over twenty five years. Owners Roger Widener and Thomas Walter, both lifelong horsemen, have amassed one of the country’s largest collections of antiques, estate jewelry, and collectibles much of which revolves around equestrian themes. The company will be the sponsors of the Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and Over Division, as well as a prominent vendor at the Camden Spring Fling. “After doing sporting shows nationally, we are thrilled to have something right back home in Camden!” Roger Widener said.

Given the crazed schedule that keeps the business on the road attending major equestrian events across the US often for weeks at a time both Widener and Walter welcome the opportunity for their home town to play host. “I think it will develop into a major show in the near future as people will be returning from Florida and the northerners will be thrilled to hit the sunshine!”  Roger said.  He went on to describe the plans for their vendor space, “We intend to make as big a splash as possible with our Essex Crystal Collection, as well as some beautiful estate jewelry and new antique sporting pieces.”  Over the years customers across the country have come to rely on Roger & Thomas, Ltd for decorating their homes and those unique gifts to the horse lover in their lives and the Camden Spring Fling will no doubt be a haven for discreet shoppers.

Show manager Lewis Pack shared other news from the grounds, “The great folks at the South Carolina Equine Park have put in a new schooling area for us and they continue to make additions almost daily. We couldn’t be happier with the facility or all it will offer our exhibitors.”  With the close out date of March 28th approaching stalls are booking fast for this inaugural shows and excitement is running high as the town of Camden prepares to welcome new comers. “I’m putting a lot of emphasis on the schedule so that exhibitors can enjoy the Camden hospitality while they’re at the show.” Pack added.

And exhibitors considering the opportunity to enjoy the weekend’s social scene at a collection of charity parties in the ringside VIP tent offering guests a wide array of delectable eats and great entertainment may want to reserve their spots quickly as tables are almost booked up. To recap the festivities planned-beginning with Friday evening during the Willoughby Stables sponsored $5000 Welcome Jumper Classic there is the Down Home BBQ complete with all the trimmings followed by the musical styling of Rusty Davis and Friends playing a variety of Classic Rock to Beach favorites. Next on Saturday evening will be the delicious fare at the Derby Dinner featuring a selection of tenderloins accompanied by a variety of tasty side dishes. Then for a fond farewell, Sunday afternoon will host the Queen’s Prix Luncheon of good ole southern comfort foods like fried chicken, homemade mac’n’cheese, and even a specialty drink to toast  favorite grand prix jumpers as they take to the field in the $25,000 finale event.

And everyone can appreciate knowing that proceeds from each table or single seat sold benefit a special local organization, Roger Rules Foundation, established in the memory of Roger Jennings Davis who was the son of band leader Rusty Davis-giving Friday evening’s  special performance a more personal significance . The Roger Jennings Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund has created an annual college scholarship to be awarded to a deserving Camden High School Senior.

Tables of 8 and/or individual seat tickets are available for single nights or in a special package for all three big nights. An added bonus to table purchases is the inclusion of a VIP Parking Pass which provides holders access to tent side parking.  Additional details, pricing, and reservations can be obtained from Leslie Kirk by emailing lesliewkirk@aol.com .  Tables are filling fast so early reservations are recommended.
