Cold Harbor and Hunt Tosh Are Cool on a Hot Day

2010 USHJA International Hunter Derby winner 33 year old Hunt Tosh from Milton, Georgia aboard Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Wheeler's Cold Harbor secured the top spot in both the Green Conformation Hunter over fences and the Green Conformation Handy Hunter classes this morning in the Dixon Oval. Cold Harbor, a 6-year-old Holsteiner added today's wins to the 2 blue ribbons from Day I in the Green Conformation Model and Under Saddle.

Tosh was clearly thrilled with the beautiful bay gelding's performance the first two days "He's phenomenal. Bobby Brasswell found him for us in Europe, and we brought him over right about Thanksgiving last year and he's been champion every time we've shown him.  He was great yesterday, a little overwhelmed in the first class, but it was nice having one class the first day so he could see the sights and take a deep breath.  We were still in the comfort zone since he won the model and the hack yesterday.  He came back and was phenomenal today. He's really a great horse. He goes in a rubber snaffle and no martingale."

When Douglas and Elizabeth Wheeler purchased Cold Harbor in November, they thought they had bought a Pre Green horse, but according to Tosh "We got him here, and he tried to do everything so correctly, and he was so good, that we went ahead and started him in the Green Conformation and he's been Champion every week we've shown him."

Why does winning in the Dixon Oval mean so much to Tosh? "I remember being a little kid and watching all the famous riders and their fabulous horses at this horse show.  You have Indoors in the fall and Devon in the spring.  This is a special show."
