For a young woman who first came to America from Denmark with no job, very little English, and just a dream, Charlotte has come a long way. A member of the bronze-medal winning 1992 U.S. Olympic Dressage Team, Charlotte Bredahl-Baker has shown great success as a competitive rider and as a breeder, trainer and dressage teacher. She is also a highly respected “ S” judge and coach of young riders.
Her Olympic mount Monsieur is now happily retired on the 50-acre Circle JB Polo Ranch owned by Charlotte and her husband Joel, where she trains her dressage horses and he his polo ponies. But it is not all about riding and competing for this accomplished equestrian who is currently campaigning two high performance horses she hopes will once again represent the United States.
Charlotte believes strongly in giving back, and in addition to mentoring youth, has recently become involved with an Inner City riding program in Compton, Los Angeles. After watching the program for an afternoon, Charlotte and her husband Joel invited the program director Mayisha Akbar their ranch in Santa Ynez, California where she spent the day giving demonstrations and lessons. Charlotte and Joel put everybody up at a motel down the street and friends of Charlotte’s hosted a BBQ. This is the beginning of what Charlotte and Joel hope to be a long time commitment to an excellent program.
