In spite of all her success in training and competition, Yvonne was faced with great sorrow over the loss of her 2010 WEG mount, an Austrian Warmblood by Lux. “The most difficult challenge in my career has been getting back in the saddle after losing my Grand Prix horse Optimus Prime, with whom I had qualified for the 2010 World Equestrian Games. It took a significant effort from both the horse and me to become proficient in the ring at Grand Prix level in such a short time, and to see this vanish, and losing the horse as well, proved to be devastating.”

Nonetheless, with the support of her family and friends, as well as the knowledge that she had an excellent string of upcoming horses, has allowed her to move on and focus on her next goals. “It is important when you go through a disappointment such as this to quickly refocus and motivate yourself with new goals and dreams.”
