Due to the very bad weather that hit the south of France in the past two weeks, and especially around Montpellier, the organizing committee of the CIC1*/2* of Le Pouget (FRA) decided to cancel its event, initially scheduled from 17 to 20 November 2011.
Heavy rains and flood damaged a part of the cross country course, although the efforts of the organizing team and of the course designer Pierre Le Goupil. The OC preferred this morning not to pursue the works to prepare the show that should have welcomed more than 150 horses next week according to the definitive entries.
" We wanted to be able to guaranty to riders the best conditions of competition and to spectators a welcoming new event. The weather since two weeks does not allow us to continue," said Rafaël Mazoyer, director of the show. " We really tried everything to launch this new international event in our region, we put all our heart and our energy, but we finally preferred to postpone our show until next year".
The president of the organizing committee Hercé Cilia, and the director Rafaël Mazoyer want to thank all the riders that had planned to participate for their confidence, as well as the sponsors, local authorities and volunteers who helped day after day till the end.
The International Eventing of Le Pouget should take place in 2012, the new date will be confirmed as soon as possible.
