With U.S. Dressage Team hopefuls making headlines across the country, excitement surrounding qualification for this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is already reaching a fever pitch, but dressage fans around the world will be able to keep up with all of the action as California Dreaming Productions announces the return of its wildly-popular live streaming video service, CDP Live, featuring expert commentary by FEI 5* (ret) judge Axel Steiner and even more fascinating behind-the-scenes interviews with top riders courtesy of Lisa Seger Insurance.
Included in the 2016 CDP Live schedule are three official qualifying competitions for the U.S. Olympic Dressage Team: the Mid-Winter CDI-W/Y/J/U-25 on February 25-28 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank; the Dressage Affaire CDI 3*/Y/J/U-25 at the Del Mar Horse Park on March 10-13; and the Festival of the Horse CDI 3*/Y/J/U-25, to be held March 30-April 2 at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
Last year almost 30,000 viewers tuned in to CDP Live to watch some of the nation’s best international dressage competitions, and starting this month fans can expect an even better viewing experience through a new subscription-based service. A significant investment made by the California Dreaming Productions organizing team in top video equipment and personnel will result in the addition of a second camera for enhanced footage, as well as the best streaming tools available to guarantee that live video will be delivered as promised to viewers around the world.
"Live streaming from competitions is one of the most exciting developments in modern horse sport, but it has to work properly or it ends up being a disappointing experience for everyone," said California Dreaming Productions co-founder David Wilson. "But it’s not as simple as just filming a ride and uploading it through a laptop connected to an internet hotspot. For CDP Live to be the outstanding viewing experience that our fans expect, many people may not realize the tens of thousands of dollars that it costs for the technology and equipment to do it right.
“So for this year, as we continue to invest in expansion of the CDP Live service and the California Dreaming Productions show series, we made the decision like many other equestrian video services such as FEI TV to ask for viewers’ support with a minimal subscription fee, either per day, per show, or for the season,” Wilson continued. “Not only do we offer live coverage of the CDI classes, but the commentary by Axel Steiner is incredibly educational – it’s like auditing a High Performance clinic every day! If you can’t join us at the shows in person, I’m not sure where else a dressage fan can watch and learn so much from the comfort of their own home for just a few dollars a day.”
The 2016 CDP Live schedule includes the following three options for viewers, all of which include free expert commentary by Axel Steiner as well as behind-the-scenes interviews:
- A CDP Live Day Pass ($10) allows access to the live streaming for a 24-hour period from time of purchase, making it the perfect option for a viewer looking to capture a specific rider or class.
- A CDP Live Two-Day Pass ($15) provides access to live streaming for 48 hours (two days) from time of purchase. An excellent option for the dressage enthusiast who doesn’t want to miss a minute of the live action for a single competition.
- The CDP Live Season Pass offers full coverage of all three upcoming California Dreaming Productions events (Mid-Winter CDI, Dressage Affaire CDI, and Festival of the Horse CDI). In what will be the preferred option among dressage fans, for just $50 this package provides an incredible value with not only six full days of rides and educational commentary, but also access to video archives of all featured rides, allowing viewers the chance to watch performances and relive the excitement over and over long after the competition has concluded.
Don’t miss your chance to watch America’s top dressage riders LIVE as they try to ride their way to the Olympics! Signing up for CDP Live is easy – no special PayPal accounts are needed as fans simply need a credit card number. Season Pass holders are encouraged to sign up at any time, while Day Pass or Two-Day Pass viewers should activate their subscription on the morning of the competition day they intend to watch (live stream access begins at actual time of purchase).
