Lexington, KY - July 31, 2014 - On Saturday, August 2, top horse and rider combination will be vying for winning honors in the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by GGT Footing. Exhibitors and guests will have the opportunity to enjoy food and drinks during Saturday evening's festivities thanks to The Brooke, an international organization determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that the right elements are in place for working horses, donkeys and mules to be healthy and happy in the long-term.
The Brooke works directly and through partners to do whatever will most improve the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules through the alleviation of existing suffering and the development of equine welfare practices and facilities to prevent and reduce suffering in the future.
Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall, is the President of the Brooke. "Having seen for myself the wonderful work the Brooke does in their clinics in Cairo and Pakistan to ease the suffering of working animals, it makes me incredibly proud to be the President of this unique charity and to follow its course with enormous interest," she stated. "Over the next few years the Brooke will be expanding into new countries, to bring it closer to achieving its goal of improving the welfare of two million animals each year."
Cindy Rullman, Fundraising Development Manager for Brooke America, has worked closely wit Kentucky Horse Shows LLC to put together Saturday night's sponsorship and be involved with the summer-long series of events. ""Once horsemen learn about our work, they are usually eager to get involved, so Kentucky Horse Shows is a perfect partner to help us spread the word to hunter jumper competitors," she stated. "Our long-term supporters already include members of royal families, international diplomats, military leaders, polo players, and celebrities, and now several American social icons and world-class equestrian competitors have been invited and warmly welcomed into the Brooke fold."
Rullman continued, "Horsemen on both sides of the pond are already working together to help us transform cultures and make lasting changes for these valuable animals who are otherwise overlooked, undervalued, and underserved. By forming new partnerships with horsemen in the Hunter Jumper world, with their infusion of resources and enthusiasm for the Brooke's mission, our goal to improve the lives of two million animals and eight million people each year by 2016 will be accomplished."
The $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by GGT Footing will get underway at 7:00 pm, and the exhibitior party sponsored by The Brooke will run concurrently at the Kentucky Horse Park's Rolex Stadium.
