Brian Hafner, riding Lombardo LHF took a commanding win in the Grand Prix this morning at the opening of the CDI*** Paragon in the cool 50 degree overcast weather. The winning percentage was 66.745 with several scores over 68%. Brian traveled to Colorado for the competition from California. The scores will help his quest to qualify for the USET/USEF Festival of Champions to be held later this Fall in Lexington, Kentucky. Brian is always a popular figure at the competitions, and rose up through the Young Rider ranks and has ridden in the Under 25 Grand Prix and Brentina Cup Competitions.
The large Prix St. George class saw the top three places going to out of state competitors.
Brian again won the blue ribbon and the cooler with California Chablis and a 66.895%, again with several scores over 69%. Second place with a 66.158% went to former Young Horse Champion Wake Up ridden by Emily Wagner of Kansas. Heather Oleson from Washington State took third place with Victor and a 63.079%.
The open show saw four rings with full time competition throughout the day. The Dressage Seat Medal rider’s all had a warm up class, judged by international 5* judges Cara Whitham of Canada and Peter Holler of Germany. A USDF/USEF Sporthorse Show rounded out the first day of competition
