The Gold Coast Opener held this past weekend was a strong indication of the healthy status of Dressage in Florida. With over 600 rides, the three competition rings at the lovely White Fences Estates in Loxahatchee, Florida featured three days of quality dressage at all levels beginning each morning at 7AM.
In the Grand Prix second to her trainer, Robert Dover and Everest, Barbara Silverman and Chantor de Bonce scored a 64.6% in a solid focused and elegant ride. In spite of daily chemotherapy treatments, Silverman managed her energy to coach a student in the morning, and to prepare for and perform in the afternoon class held Saturday, January 22.
An inspiration to all those who have learned from Barbara's open and honest approach to the challenges she faces, the crowd showed their appreciation with a rousing applause for a great ride, and for what she has given us all.
