After the first eight riders in the dressage phase at this year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, William Fox-Pitt heads the field on a score of 45.8 with Oslo. “I was very pleased with him. He didn’t make any mistakes and concentrated well,” said William. “This was his first time in a big arena since Pau 2011 and he coped well with the atmosphere.”
Michael Jung is currently lying second with Leopin FST on a score of 46.5.
He said: “I was pleased with the horse. He did a good test. It’s fantastic to be here and the cross-country course looks good. It’s big and there will be a lot of galloping. I am looking forward to it.”
Mary King and Imperial Cavalier occupy third spot on 47.3.
The next eight riders to go include dressage queen Ruth Edge (Nick Of Thyme) and Rolex Grand Slam contender Andrew Nicholson on his first ride, Avebury.
