The cool start to the morning of 54 degrees turned into a warm and sunny afternoon in Estes Park, Colorado. The Paragon CDI*** finished the second day of competition with high scores in all three divisions. Adrienne Lyle rode Peggy Thomas's Wizard to win in the Grand Prix Special. Coach Debbie McDonald was thrilled with the ride. "He wanted to get a little behind the leg in the warm up today, but Adrienne rode him with a lot of feel and tact. I am really proud of how this pair is maturing!" The final score from the panel of 5 judges was 72.023 %. Team River Grove will be heading back to Sun Valley, Idaho tonight.
Carolyn Adams riding the black stallion Winterprinz also repeated her win today. Her final score in the Intermediare I totaled 71.237%. Coach Dirk Glitz was thrilled with the ride and the score. "We were hoping to up our average for The Festival a percentage or more. It looks like we did this!" Dirk is heading home to California tonight and said he would be recommending the Paragon CDI*** to his friends in California.
Brook Santangelo and her mare Daylight again charmed the judges in the Junior Individual Test. She scored a 66.623 to take the win. Brook is trained by Jenny Baldwin, who also placed well in the small tour with Chrysler and was second in the Grand Prix and the Special on Fabrioso. Brook came up through the 4-H and Pony Club ranks. She also tried jumping before finding her passion for dressage. She was a member of the Region 5 Junior Silver Medal Team at the NAJYRC in 2011. Daylight was discovered in Berlin riding in a quadrille!
The come back story was Beatrice Marienau riding Reve de Neige. She rode in the CDI*** Grand Prix yesterday but scored just under the 58% needed to move on to the freestyle Sunday. Today she rode under the CDI panel in an open Grand Prix and scored 63.830%. Trixie and Hideaway Ranch Equestrian Center is also a headline sponsor for the event. Check out the Results!
