In a field of 44 riders, Anna Lisec of Austria riding This Wimps So Fly (Wimpys Little Step x Fly Flashy Jac) owned by Sabine Lisec and Chuck Klipfel, took the lead after posting a 215. “He’s one of the best horses I had but I really had hard time riding him, first of all because he is a young horse and because he’s really sensitive. He remembers everything, but I really really like him,” said Anna following her ride aboard the 5-year-old gelding. “Today I’m really happy with him because the last time I was here it was for the Breeders final and that was the first show I rode him this year. Our next show will be the Italian Derby in Reggio. I want to thank of course my parents who buy such nice horses and give to me to show; to Sylvia Rezpka who helps me a lot, Cody Sapergia for preparing the horse and all the people in our barn, the grooms and all my friends.”
Sliding to second position in the final standings were Italian Ewald Rifeser riding Petra Burger’s Wimpys Lil Shiner (Wimpys Little Step x Sassy Shiner).
The €5,000-added NRHA Open 5 & Up
Closing the day was the €5,000-added NRHA Open 5 & Up which counted 25 entries. Earning top honors after posting a 219 was NRHA Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck with What A Wave between the reins. The 7-year-old stallion by Tiday Wave Jac and out of What A Surprise (by Surprise Enterprise) who boasts $119,812 NRHA LTE was bred by Sam Ellis. With Craig Schmersal in the saddle, he slid to reserve honors at the 2014 NRHA Open World Championship Shootout and the 2014 National Reining Breeders Classic. “This is the first time I show this horse which we bought last year during the NRHA Futurity,” said Bernard following the awards presentation. “We still need to get to know each other but he’s a really good horse, he feels really honest and I am very happy for the owners, Steve Vannietvelt and Gina De Pauw as they have been our customers for a long time and are really good people to work for.”
German NRHA Professional Grischa Ludwig placed Lil Smokeing Gun (Smart Chic Olena x Playguns Smoking by Playgun) in second place two points behind the winners. The 2010 stallion was bred by Jim Babcock and, with Grischa, had earned the reserve championship last year at the 2014 NRHA European Derby. Lil Smokeing Gun has $10,624 NRHA LTE.
Starting the day on Thursday at 8 am CET will be the €850-added NRHA Novice Horse Open Level 2 followed by the Town Talk and the Draw Party sponsored by Dreams & Prizes and by 23 Quarter Horses.
