Soldi, Mezzaroba, Bertoli Dominate both days of 2011 Dressage Championship in Montelibretti, Italy. The point differences between the three medalists wasn’t too big. Ester Soldi captured the Italian Military Dressage Champion’s title by winning the two days of competition held at Montelibretti in Rome, Italy on 15-16 September 2011. Aboard her top horse, the German mare Wiena’s Dream 1999 by Weltmeyer x Lanthana. She was born for dressage!
Ester Soldi was untouchable and won first the M100 test on the first day with 73.83% and the FEI CCI/CIC*** with 69.551% just a less score for the second day. “I’m very happy with my title” said the representing penitentiary police” and my horse Wiena was so good, so light, so well balanced. There was only a very little problem because of the dressage arena was too soft and because I was stung twice by a hornet! But, in the end, everything ends well for me and my horse friend”. Beautiful suspension in the gaits, impulsion and elegance for this golden combination.
Captain Andrea Mezzaroba, army officer, won the silver medal position with 66.248% on the 15-year-old gelding Tenpo. “Honestly? I didn’t expect this second place in championship! What a surprise… I am here by chance." admitted Mezzaroba after the competition. “I only wanted to perform my best and ride a clean, simple, easy and confident test in each day with my expert Tenpo, ex eventing partner”. In fact we want to say that the Irish gelding needs no intruducion. He was an eventer, like his rider Mezzaroba, with incredible success both on national and international stage. In 2004, he was reserve for Olympic Games of Athens 2004.
A year later the horse was retired from eventing competitions for a breathing disease. His rider retired too! “Now we work every day on flat work and dressage. It is the basis for equitation. I’ve loved this horse from the start and I have always known he is something special. He can work, in spite of his difficult in respiration. He loves working but above all he wants to win. There is a motivation in his eyes!” Preciseness, confidence and relaxation in this silver riding.
The 25 year old Evelina Bertoli grabbed the bronze medal on Esido, Italian horse born in 2000 and used for eventing, too. Evelina, another champion exponent of the penitentiary police on the podium, took the final score of 66.071%. The pair was very brilliant and expressive in the canter work, a very rhythmical gait of the horse. She revealed much talent riding the bay gelding with feeling and harmony.
Great absent this time, the Italian dressage Champion, the Carabineer Valentina Truppa. She not was here to defend the 2010 Dressage title won last year in Montelibretti on Corallo Nero.
