2006 Markel USEF 6 Year-Old National Championships Catapult’s Blake into the Limelight

Trainer/Rider David Blake

David Blake broke Catapult, a 2000 Holsteiner (Cantour out of Hell of High Water) for Suze Randall of Malibu, CA when he was two-and-a-half and bought the horse for himself when Catapult was turning four. “I have now trained him through Grand Prix and believe he is the reason I am where I am today.” Blake said.

“Winning the 2006 Markel USEF 6 Year-Old National Championships with Catapult marked a huge turning point for my career and business. All of a sudden, people knew my name. I purchased Catapult at a young age because I felt we had the same heart. Neither one of us really came from anything ‘extraordinary’. Catapult has the lines of a jumper but he would do anything I every asked of him. He seemed to want to do it ‘for me’ and we’ve had that relationship ever since. Showing him in the Grand Prix arena last January was very emotional for me, we did that together and it was a feeling I’ll never forget.

Now Blake has his eye on the USEF Grand Prix National Dressage Championships, with a horse he has trained from the start.
