Byars, Oklahoma - New for the 2002 Saltgrass Steak House National Reining Breeders Classic will be the Double Time Awards given for participation in the National Reining Horse Association approved classes held during the show.
The NRBC Board of Directors approved the new awards during its December meeting and both Non Pro and Open Awards will be given to the high point horses and riders that participate in both slates of NRHA classes held during the Classic. A point system will be used to calculate the points, with 10 points for first place, 9 for second, and so on, in each class. The awards will be given at the show's conclusion.
According to NRBC Executive Director Jeff Magoteaux, the awards were created to recognize the Saltgrass Steak House NRBC Show ancillary class participants. "We appreciate the entries and the high level of competition we see in classes from the rookie class to the Open."
Besides the Double Time Awards, ancillary class participants will also garner points that count toward Texas Reining Horse Association standings, as one set of classes is approved by the TRHA.
The Prime Time division of competition at the Saltgrass Steak House NRBC show will also feature special awards. As with the awards in the ancillary classes, participants must enter both slates of classes to be eligible for awards.
