Wellington, FL – When dressage rider Jennifer Baumert and the majestic gelding Handsome came down centerline this weekend at the AGDF, the judges couldn’t help but take notice. The graceful duo scored a 74.875 percent to win the FEI Intermediate I Freestyle, and Handsome earned the Corta-Flx® Sport Horse of the Week Award. Corta-Flx®, an official sponsor of the winter dressage show series in Wellington, Florida, is recognizing horses that exemplify outstanding fitness and soundness throughout the prestigious competition. The Corta-Flx® Sport Horse of the Week Award includes a tri-color ribbon and full-sized Corta-Flx® and U-Gard® supplements.

Baumert has had the ride on Handsome for about a year, and this weekend was just his third outing in CDI competition. “He’s a really special horse,” Baumert said of the 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Hochadel x Wyona, Weltmeyer) owned by Betsy Juliano. “He’s obviously ultra-talented and has a kind, generous heart. I feel really lucky to be riding him.” Handsome was also the winner of the Prix St. Georges at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby earlier this month at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival.

“Jenn has done a beautiful job with him, and she’s a great match with him,” Juliano said. “I’ve had a lot of joy watching them develop under Debbie McDonald’s training.” Juliano sponsors some of the top riders in the sport, including Laura Graves and Adrienne Lyle, as well as Baumert. “I love watching the horses and riders progress. That’s my favorite part. We have a great team on both a micro- and macro-level in our country, and tremendous potential. I’m really excited.”

The Jog Turnout Award winner, Ann Sterling Hart, received Corta-Flx® joint solution and U-Gard® gastric supplement. It was Sterling Hart’s first Adult Amateur CDI with Kashmir, her 17-year-old Oldenburg mare (Wolkentanz II x Kristianna, Harper), and the pair scored a 62.675 percent in the Prix St. Georges. “I got her as a three-year-old,” she said. “We started from the ground up.” Corta-Flx® was happy to reward Sterling Hart for kicking off the week with impeccable presentation in the CDI Jog.
